Desired vs. Admired

A nice little exercise to clarify your direction, in regard to life in general, or in relation to some specific thing.

Make two short lists:

  1. Desired. The things you most desire for yourself in life.
  2. Admired. The qualities you find most praiseworthy and admirable in other people.

You will often find yourself with two very different lists.

Think about it:

  • Why is this so?
  • Would it be better for you if you would desire exactly the same things you admire?
  • How could you change your behaviour so that these two would be in better alignment?
