Every virtue is difficult in its own way.
One that is often overlooked is kindness/justice. It seems easy enough; just treat everyone fairly and be nice, right? But when you think you do that, do you really? Do you put the best interest of your family, community and the common humanity before all else? Do you really mean and actually have all the kind thoughts that you think you have? Would that, if needed, become real in a form of a tangible sacrifice or are you just going through the motions?
We are in this together.
That thought helps me when I find myself being short on empathy. What I feel, everyone feels. I fear and hope roughly the same things as everyone else. It just manifests in slightly different ways with different people.
I am not unique as a snowflake.
I like it this way better.
