Do not desire something at any cost.
Do not avoid something at any cost.
Withdraw into self-sufficiency when needed. Keep your mind free of unhealthy passions, to the best of your ability. That free mind is your fortress. Make it strong!
(Meditations 8:48)
Take the information provided to you by your initial impressions. Don’t torture yourself with ill-informed speculation or by adding conclusions from your own mind.
(Meditations 8:49)
Is your cucumber bitter? Throw it away.
Are there briars in your path? Turn aside.
That is enough. Do not go on and say, “Why were things of this sort ever brought into this world?”
(Meditations 8:50)
Yeah, why not just take it like it is and carry on?
And while you do whatever it is you do, avoid the traps. Do not think that you “have to” do something. Do not musturbate!
You don’t have to do anything. There are very little mandatory things you must get done. Even those you must get done only if you want to be a decent human being, and that too is voluntary at the end of the day! Your choice.
Flow freely, without compulsion.
Enjoy the travel and do not obsess on the destination.
You know what the eventual destination is, and it is guaranteed by the nature that you will get to there!
